Take to the Floor
With the vast array of flooring materials just aching to become the next talking point in your home, it’s hard to know where to start. Here’s a sneaky peak at what’s going to be hot under foot in next year’s homes.
Natural materials that come from renewable sources are of course going to be featuring heavily. Bamboo, which in its natural form is harder than Oak, will become increasingly popular due to its high-gloss finish and durability. That classic renewable material Cork is also on trend for the coming months. Cork tiles offer myriad creative possibilities and take on colour very well, with both neutral and metallic tones popular.
In the world of carpeting there is only one word on everyone’s lips – Triexia. Triexia fibres are made in part from corn sugar. Which means it uses much less petroleum than other carpet types in its manufacture. It’s also highly durable and has brilliant stain resistance & anti-allergy properties.
Large format ceramic tiles are in vogue this season. High in demand will be those that simulate concrete, hard wood and natural stone, along with those that imitate marble. Old world and rustic however, will make way for a more urbane and polished square-edged style.
