Electrolux continues to support Australia’s chef, front of house & restaurateur stars through our sponsorship of the Electrolux Appetite for Excellence awards.

The Electrolux Appetite for Excellence awards are an annual competition that search for Australia’s hottest young talent within the restaurant and catering industry. With three award categories - Electrolux Young Chef, Electrolux Young Waiter, Electrolux Young Restaurateur - the national program aims to inspire, support and educate future industry leaders and provide unique career opportunities.

Electrolux Appetite for Excellence is the only national hospitality awards program that is judged by a broad and totally national panel of over 20 of Australia’s most successful chefs, restaurateurs and industry professionals. The 2011 program attracted the attention of Mark Best, Tony Bilson, Peter Gilmore, Peter Doyle, Guy Grossi, Philip Johnson, Christine Mansfield and Justin North. Electrolux shares the same philosophy as Appetite for Excellence and recognises the importance of supporting, nurturing and developing the next generation of leading Australian chefs, waiters and restaurateurs.

The 2011 winners have competed in a range of hospitality challenges to prove their culinary skills including mystery box cook offs, customer service tests, food and wine knowledge tests and one-on-one interviews, all under careful scrutiny from a judging panel comprised of Australia’s leading chefs and hospitality leaders.

After months of interviews and cooking challenges the winners were announced!

Electrolux Young Waiter 2011 - James Sexton, (Sepia Restaurant & Wine Bar, NSW)

Electrolux Young Restaurateur 2011 - Clint Hillery (Time to Vino, Potts Point, NSW)

The winners receive a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience to expand their food and wine skills, learn from some of the world’s best chefs and be inspired by an amazing overseas trip.
